Artist Bio:
Background
Carlo Castellanos
began his formal art training in Honduras at the studio of Cuban painter
Gelasio Jimenez. Under the tutelage of Jimenez, Carol honed his oil painting
technique and began exploring various styles of expression. Soon Carlo
began exhibiting his art in group and individual art shows in the capital,
Honduras.
In 1975, he moved
to the United States, settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he opened an art
gallery that became a hub for the burgeoning art community in Tulsa. But
he then saw opportunities in New Orleans, LA, where he moved with his
family and worked with Jose Ferrer, a Catalan painter and graduate from
the Barcelona School of Art. With Mr. Ferrer he refined his technical
mastery of light, space, form and color. While in New Orleans, he also
began painting portraits, figures, landscapes, and still life. Meanwhile,
he also started a business that provided restoration and shipping services
to the art community in New Orleans, LA. Soon the business was a full-time
pursuit.
Eventually, Carlo
Castellano sold his business and moved to Seattle, WA where he resumed
his passion in oil painting. He began to share his work with the public
at the local Art Walk in Pioneer Square. From there he became more involved
in the art community and an active member in the collective art gallery,
finding greater opportunities to participate in Seattles growing
art world.
Carlo Castellano has
been a Seattle-based artist for the past decade.
